u4gm:Last Epoch: How to Get and Use Runes
In Last Epoch, Runes are essential crafting materials that allow players to significantly modify and improve their gear. They can change affixes, reroll stats, duplicate items, or even transform items into unique ones, making them invaluable for optimizing builds.
How to Get Runes in Last Epoch
Runes drop randomly from almost every loot source, but some are more reliable than others. The best places to farm Runes include:
1. Bosses, Champions, and Nemeses: These powerful enemies have higher chances to drop Runes.
2. Elites and Loot Lizards: Elite packs and special creatures also frequently drop Runes.
3. Chests and Caches: Breaking containers scattered throughout the world can yield Runes.
4. Monolith of Fate Echoes: Completing specific Echoes that reward Runes is an efficient farming method.
5. Prophecies and Circle of Fortune: Joining the Circle of Fortune and completing Prophecies that reward Runes can boost your Rune acquisition.
How to Use Runes
To use Runes, open the Forge by pressing ‘F’ and place the item you want to craft on in the center slot. Runes can be added by clicking the hexagon icon near the bottom of the crafting interface. Each Rune has a unique effect:
1. Rune of Shattering: Destroys an item, turning its powers into shards.
2. Rune of Discovery: Adds random tier 1 affixes to empty slots.
3. Rune of Ascendance: Converts a common, magic, or rare item into a unique item of the same type.
4. Rune of Refinement: Rerolls the values of all affixes on an item.
5. Rune of Creation: Duplicates an item but reduces forging potential to zero.
6. Rune of Removal: Removes a random affix, returning shards.
7. Rune of Research: Seals an experimental affix, freeing the slot for new affixes.
8. Rune of Shaping: Rerolls all implicits on an item.
Tips for Efficient Rune Farming and Crafting
1. Focus on farming bosses and high-tier enemies in zones like Tombs and Cemeteries for rare Runes like Havoc and Redemption.
2. Use Prophecies that reward generic Runes to increase drop rates.
3. Combine crafting with the use of Glyphs and Shards for better results.
4. Keep an eye on your item’s Forging Potential, as crafting consumes it and items become uncraftable once it reaches zero.

u4gm-Last Epoch: How to Increase Corruption
In Last Epoch, Corruption is an endgame scaling mechanic tied to the Monolith of Fate timelines that increases both the difficulty and the rewards of encounters. Raising your Corruption level makes enemies tougher-boosting their health and damage-but also improves experience gain and item rarity , rewarding players who push their limits.
The primary way to increase Corruption is by defeating the Shade of Orobyss, a unique boss that spawns at the edge of your timeline’s Echo web, usually on the Echo of a World tile. The further this Shade is from the center of your timeline, the more Corruption you gain upon defeating it-ranging from +2 Corruption near the center up to +10 or more at distant nodes.
For normal timelines, Corruption caps at 50 stacks, but Empowered timelines have no cap, allowing infinite scaling. Each time you clear an Empowered timeline’s final boss, you gain a stack of Gaze of Orobyss, a buff that increases the Corruption awarded from your next Shade of Orobyss kill. By accumulating multiple Gaze stacks, you can dramatically boost the Corruption gained per kill, sometimes earning over 20 Corruption in a single fight.
A highly efficient farming strategy involves moving diagonally across the Echo web, completing objectives quickly, and avoiding arena Echoes to maximize the number of encounters. Once you have max Stability, killing the timeline boss grants Gaze stacks, which you then leverage to kill the Shade of Orobyss for large Corruption gains. Repeating this loop resets the Echo web and lets you push Corruption higher and higher.
Pushing Corruption too high can make your timeline nearly impossible to clear. If you find yourself overwhelmed, you have two main options to reduce Corruption:
1. Kill the Shade of Orobyss near the center of your timeline: Unlike distant Shades, killing a Shade close to the timeline’s epicenter actually reduces Corruption slightly. This can be repeated multiple times to fine-tune difficulty.
2. Complete the Sanctuary of Eterra Echo: Unlocked after your first Shade kill, this Echo appears at the center of your web and allows you to reduce Corruption by a small or moderate amount, or fully reset it to the base value (0 for normal, 100 for Empowered). This is the most reliable way to manage Corruption if you get stuck.
