Syriac Progressive Youth Union and Assyrian Youth Union discuss strengthening cooperation in Tel Tamer
07/07/2026TEL TAMR, Syria — A delegation from the Syriac Progressive Youth Union (SPYU) met with representatives of the Assyrian Youth Union (AYU) on Monday to discuss ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the two organizations during a visit to the AYU headquarters in the town of Tel Tamr. The visit aimed to reinforce ties between Syriac and Assyrian youth institutions and support initiatives addressing youth and community issues.
The SPYU delegation included SPYU Co-Chairs and the head of its Relations Office. They were received by Fouad Khoshaba, head of the AYU, along with members of the AYU Administrative Board.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of developing mechanisms for cooperation and coordination between the two unions and launching joint initiatives to promote youth participation in social, cultural, and national affairs.
Both sides stressed that unifying the efforts of youth organizations is a fundamental step toward supporting the issues of the Syriac and Assyrian communities in Syria, strengthening the role of the younger generation in preserving their identity and heritage, and contributing to the future development of their community.
The two unions also underscored the importance of maintaining regular communication and joint action to foster a culture of cooperation and reinforce the role of young people as active partners in various fields amid the challenges facing local communities in Syria.
