Charley Hull makes eagle on the 18, cards 66

Charley Hull was 2 over after 7 holes in the opening round of the Evian, and then everything changed. Back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 changed the momentum for the Englishwoman. On the back nine, Hull made birdies on Nos. 13, 15 and 16 before making eagle on the last. In her post-round interview on Golf Channel, Hull smiled as she credited the ice cream her caddie had on the 15th.

France's Delacour in second after 65

Perrine Delacour birdied her last hole, the par-5 ninth, to card an impressive 6-under 65. The Frenchwoman's round included six birdies and an eagle. She hit only 26 putts on the day. Delacour, 32, has never won on the LPGA. She has three top-25 finishes this season including a share of 24th at the KPMG Women's PGA. Only one Frenchwoman, Celine Boutier, has ever won the Evian.

A sweet treat for Charley Hull

Charley Hull, who famously said shy kids don't get sweets during the 2023 U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach, was carrying an ice cream cone down the fairway on the 15th. The cone, however, belonged to her caddie, Adam Woodward. Hull joked that he was getting the royal treatment after his time in the Royal Box at Wimbledon last week. Hull hit the green in two on the 15th and made birdie. She's 2 under for the tournament.

Lydia Ko hits driver off the deck, lurks at Evian

With her husband on the bag, Lydia Ko let one fly on the par-5 ninth, hitting driver off the deck to hit the green in two and set up birdie. Ko, a winner at Evian in 2015, is 1 under through 13 holes.

Celine Boutier's nightmare start

The only French player to win the Evian is off to a horrendous start on the shores of Lake Geneva. Celine Boutier, who won earlier this season at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, tripled her first hole and then added back-to-back doubles on Nos. 10 and 11. She's 6 over through 11 holes.

French player goes out in 31 at Evian

Perrine Delacour birdied her first hole (No. 10) to get off to a fine start and kicked things in overdrive with an eagle on the par-5 15th. Birdies on the 17th and 18th gave the Frenchwoman a 31 on her front side to move into a share of third. Delacour ranks 116th in the world.

Hyo Joo Kim off to hot start in France

Hyo Joo Kim birdied the first hole and kept that momentum going, adding one on the third hole. The world No. 3 is a two-time winner on the LPGA this season and has also won twice on the KLPGA, including just last week. Kim posted the lowest round ever recorded in a major, 61, in her Evian debut in 2014 and went on to win the tournament.

Aki Iwai opens up three-shot lead after 63

Japans's Aki Iwai, who recently dropped the "e" off her first name, choosing to go by her nickname, carded a bogey-free 8-under 63 in France to sit three clear of the field. Iwai took only 27 putts in the opening round. A trio of players, including KPMG Women's PGA winner Haeran Ryu, shot 66.

Nelly Korda opens with a 74 at Evian Championship

Nelly Korda opens with a 3-over 74 at the Amundi Evian Championship. She recorded only two birdies on the day, including her last hole, the par-5 ninth.  Korda hit 11 fairways, 13 greens and took 34 putts. She's currently T-69. The world No. 1's worst finish in a stroke-play event this season is a share of eighth.

Lottie Woad eagles 18th to shoot 4 under

England's Lottie Woad got it to 5 under through her first 12 holes before dropping a three shots on her back nine. A closing eagle on the par-5 ninth, however, moved her back up the board after an opening 67. Woad finished one shot out of a playoff at this event last year as an amateur.
