2026 Mets Draft profile: Landon Koenig

Landon Koenig was born in Page, North Dakota, a city of 190 in the southwestern portion of the state as per the 2020 census. He attended May-Port High School, an institution servicing the combined cities of Mayville and Portland, beginning in seventh grade and as such, has the distinction of being a six-time letterman, playing baseball, football, and basketball. On the diamond, he posted a cumulative 1.79 ERA in 95.2 innings, striking out 168 total batters, earning him All-Region honors four times and All-State honors twice. While many scouts and evaluators considered him one of the best, if not the best, players in North Dakota available in the 2023 MLB Draft, he had much less prominence nationally, and as such, went undrafted. He had a commitment to North Dakota State University and made it to campus that fall.

In 2024, Koenig's freshman season, the right-hander appeared in 14 games for the Bison, starting all of them as the team's Sunday starter. In 59.2 innings, he posted a 7.54 ERA, allowing 86 hits, walking 25, and striking out 41. In 2025, head coach Oakes had him pitch exclusively out of the bullen, and the results were more of the same. Appearing in 19 games, Koenig posted a 6.17 ERA in 46.2 innings, allowing 57 hits, walking 18, and striking out 46.
