2027 NFL Draft summer scouting report: Conner Weigman, QB, Houston

When it comes to scouting, it is an imperfect science. We have seen zero- and one-star recruits make a major impact, while five-stars struggle to live up to the hype. When it comes to quarterbacks, I still tend to trust the talent, and that is the case for Houston's Conner Weigman.

Weigman showed major upside at Texas A&M, and his move to Houston was for development, which there were glimpses of last season. Let's talk about it.

  • Snappy release, always seems to be in rhythm despite pressure

  • Does well hitting the short and intermediate throws

  • When he's on, he can layer throws with the best of them in the class

  • Tends to play his best in bigger moments

  • Injury history is a concern

  • Needs to find consistency in his game

  • Needs to be less of an arm thrower (using his legs more to drive the ball)

  • Won't bring a ton as a playmaker

  • Can he find trust in his deep ball?

  • Conner Weigman is no future Hall of Famer, I will say that. However, I still find myself in his camp more than out. The talent is there, and when he is on, his offense hums. Weigman gets a fifth-round grade and could find himself as a quality backup in the NFL, and depending on how this season goes for Houston, he could see his name called earlier on day three than expected.
