The early expectation is that the New York Jets will target a quarterback prospect in the 2027 NFL draft.

The class of quarterbacks is shaping up to possibly include franchise names like Texas' Arch Manning, Oregon's Dante Moore, and Ohio State's Julian Sayin. Meanwhile the Jets have three first-round picks and a stopgap starter in the aging Geno Smith.

Assuming the Jets use one of their first-round selections on a quarterback, and don't have to trade up to do it, that'll leave Darren Mougey with two additional first-round picks to use on different positions. What are the Jets' biggest way-too-early 2027 needs besides quarterback? Defensive tackle and cornerback could stick out.

That's no coincidence. The Jets traded franchise cornerstones at both positions, sending Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner away for draft picks last season to kickstart the rebuild. After drafting David Bailey at No. 2 overall, this Jets defense could use young stars at cornerback and defensive tackle.

Interior offensive line will also command attention. The Jets recently signed right guard Joe Tippmann to an extension, but have temporary solutions at left guard and center in Dylan Parham and Josh Myers.

Quarterback dominates the Jets' 2027 needs, but interior offensive line, defensive tackle and cornerback also loom large.
