The Denver Broncos brought back 18 in-house free agents this spring, focusing on keeping together a roster that went 14-3 and reached the AFC Championship game last season.

While the Broncos re-signed many of their free agents, they did not manage to keep all of them. Most notably, defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers left the club to sign with the Tennessee Titans. Denver also lost rotational safety and key special teams contributor P.J. Locke, who joined the Dallas Cowboys.

A third notable departure was linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who was cut in a move that saved $8.19 million. After being let go by the Broncos, Greenlaw returned to the San Francisco 49ers. Greenlaw was only available for eight games last fall, but he was productive when on the field, totaling 43 tackles, two pass breakups, two quarterback hits, one interception and one sack.

Denver has several candidates to replace JFM on the defensive line, and Devon Key could win a larger role on defense following Locke's departure. Meanwhile, the Broncos' depth at inside linebacker remains thin after they moved on from Greenlaw. Seventh-round draft pick Red Murdock and undrafted rookie Taurean York will aim to impress at ILB this summer.
