Trades, trades, and more trades! The Pittsburgh Steelers have plenty of players on their roster who have been tied to trade rumors this offseason, but deals involving these three veterans would make the most sense.

From a starting-caliber cornerback who has been relegated to a depth role to a quarterback on the outside looking in heading into Year 9, here's a look at three trades the Steelers should make before the 2026 season.

Trade #1: Asante Samuel Jr. to Detroit Lions

It's no secret Samuel has been tied to trade speculation in recent weeks, as reports indicate he could see a reduced role in a loaded cornerback room. The Lions, who released starting cornerback Terrion Arnold following his legal troubles, would be an ideal landing spot.

Trade #2: Alex Highsmith to San Francisco 49ers

Highsmith's absence from mandatory minicamp coupled with Nick Herbig's massive extension have led many, including myself, to believe the Steelers could look for a trade partner sooner than later. The 49ers could desperately use another edge rusher to pair with Nick Bosa and the Steelers may be one of the few teams with talent at the position to spare.

Trade #3: Mason Rudolph to Indianapolis Colts

With Anthony Richardson tied to more trade rumors than fans can keep up with, the Colts could very well be in the market for a reliable backup quarterback. Enter Mason Rudolph, who would serve as a solid QB2 behind Daniel Jones in 2026. Indianapolis would be wise to shore up the backup job in a hurry with Jones coming off an Achilles tear, and Rudolph more than checks that box.
