63 Days to Opening Night: The History of #63

Over the years, only a pair of players have ever worn the number 63 for the Tampa Bay Lightning and both only wore it for a short period of time.

Tyler Johnson was the first to wear the number during his first recall to the NHL. In 14 games wearing the number 63, Johnson scored three goals and tallied a total of six points. The following season, when he became a full-time NHLer, he switched to the more recognizable number nine. Johnson would go on to become a key part of the "triplets line" alongside Nikita Kucherov and Ondrej Palat early in his career and raised the Stanley Cup with the Lightning on two occasions.
