76ers Rest Stars And Still Beat Hornets In Charlotte Upset

The biggest shock of the week happened right here in Charlotte, but it was not the Hornets winning. The Philadelphia 76ers rolled into town without their two biggest stars and still managed to beat the local team 109-104 on Saturday night. It seems impossible that a team missing its best players could win, yet that is exactly what happened at The Spectrum Center per Yahoo Sports. The crowd of 20,000 fans watched a shorthanded squad pull off the win.

Philadelphia decided to rest both Joel Embiid and LeBron James for this matchup against the Hornets. The two superstars sat out to manage their injuries after playing in an intense NBA Cup game the night before against the New York Knicks, according to Corsicana Daily Sun. Embiid is dealing with right foot plantar fasciitis management while James has low back and sciatica issues. These are serious health concerns that usually keep players on the sideline for days, but the 76ers made the call to sit them for this specific game in Charlotte.
