Three games were played; two ended in walk-off fashion, and all three with the winning side taking the lead in the final inning of play.

Player of the day

AJ Soldra made the most out of batting ninth and helped the Tower Buzzers avoid defeat by recording three hits in five at-bats, driving in four runs to raise his RBI total to 30 on the year.

The fact he was batting ninth as the designated hitter shouldn’t fool you regarding the type of season he’s having, now with an OPS of .875 in 170 at-bats, recording 50 hits.

Losing the lead time and time again, the Comets got beaten 9-8 by the Knights despite recording no defensive errors, while their opponents had three. Relievers Jerming Rosario and Carlos Duran both recorded blown saves, but it was Wyatt Mills who took the loss as the Knights walked it off in the ninth.

Even though he struck out three times, leadoff hitter Zach Ehrhard managed to leave his mark on the game, hitting the Comets’ only homer in the top of the third. OKC’s most productive hitter was second baseman Hyeseong Kim, going three for five, scoring two, and driving in another two.

In a day fit for walk-offs, the Drillers got the last laugh against the Wind Surge in unusual fashion. Griffin Lockwood-Powell worked up a 3-0 count with the bases loaded, two outs and all tied at 6-6, then he didn’t even need to swing the bat, hit by a pitch to send everyone home.

Zack Gelof hit the Drillers’ only home run on the evening, and Mike Sirota is now up to 50 games having reached base consecutively, going one for two with three free passes. Unfortunately, Zyhir Hope had his worst game of the year with a Golden Sombrero, hitless in five at-bats.

Neither game of the doubleheader was played due to the weather.

While a walk-off win wasn’t possible as the Tower Buzzers were on the road, they overcame a late three-run deficit to win it 10-8 by scoring two in the eighth, one in the ninth, and another two in the tenth—all of this with the top three in their order going hitless.

AJ Soldra recorded three hits, including the game-tying RBI double in the ninth and a single to make it 10-8 only an inning later. The Toweer Buzzers’ designated hitter recorded four of the team’s 10 RBI, with another three coming from first baseman Easton Shelton, responsible for Ontario’s home run of the evening.
