Alex McLaughlin Stars in Another Stout Defensive Effort for Washington

The Washington defense delivered once again Saturday afternoon inside Husky Stadium, holding Utah State to just 14 points in a tightly contested affair. While many names deserve credit for the stout performance, safety Alex McLaughlin seemed everywhere at once for Ryan Walters' defense. Starting his second season at Washington, the former Northern Arizona standout has become a staple in the Huskies' secondary. However, McLaughlin has done more than make plays in coverage.

The fourth-year player filled up the stat sheet as the team's leading tackler, recording 9 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 pass breakups, and an interception. Through the early parts of the season, McLaughlin has become a Swiss Army knife for Walters, showcasing both elite ball-hawking skills and the ability to be disruptive in the backfield.
