Alvin Kamara will reportedly make $6M base salary on new deal with Saints

Per Saints reporter Nick Underhill, Kamara and the Saints finalized an agreement to restructure his contract to keep him in New Orleans. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the five-time Pro Bowler will receive a $6 million base salary for the 2026 season with incentives that could bring the total up to $8.5 million.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementKamara was previously slated to play on the second year of a two-year, $24.5 million contract with a $10.5 million salary cap hit for next season.
"Alvin's goal, and the team's goal, was for him to remain with the Saints and retire a Saint," Kamara's agent told NFL Network.
Kamara, who turns 31 next week, has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason, but will instead remain with the team that he's played with his entire nine-season NFL career.

Kamara made the Pro Bowl in his first five NFL seasons and was twice named All-Pro. His production and efficiency has since dropped as he approaches his age-31 season, but he has remained an integral part of New Orleans' offense throughout his career.
Kamara will share the backfield next season with former Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr., who signed a four-year $52 million deal with New Orleans as a free agent. That deal sparked speculation that Kamara's time in New Orleans was done. Instead the pair will form a 1-2 tandem.

Can Saints ascend to playoff contention next season?
The Saints are coming off a 6-11 season and last-place finish in the NFC South. That finish was two games behind the first-place Carolina Panthers in a division that's traditionally up for grabs.
Second-round quarterback Tyler Shough showed promise in nine starts as a rookie last season while throwing to All-Pro wide receiver Chris Olave. The Saints are hoping he can take the next step in his second NFL season as New Orleans seeks to contend in the NFC South.
