Analyst identifies biggest weakness facing Jaguars offense
The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to build on the incredible season they had in 2025. They're already assumed to be a strong candidate to win the AFC South again.
On NFL.com, Matt Okada delved into one number that will define each team's upcoming season, and their potential path to the Super Bowl. For the Jaguars, that number is 36.
"The 2025 Jaguars fielded a decent receiving corps on paper that included rookie phenom Brian Thomas Jr., second-overall pick Travis Hunter, breakout Parker Washington and trade acquisition Jakobi Meyers. That talented group contributed to Jacksonville's NFL-most 36 drops, per Next Gen Stats. Considering the Jaguars won the AFC South and narrowly lost in the Wild Card Round, their ceiling could be sky high if they can clean up the catch rate in 2026."
All of the Jaguars receivers struggled with drops throughout the 2025 season, albeit none more so than Thomas. No quarterback's pass catchers had more dropped passes last year than Trevor Lawrence.

As Okada said, the potential is virtually unlimited if the Jaguars can improve in just this one area.
There are plenty of signs to indicate that this very well could happen. Thomas' performance through the offseason has been promising, with signs that he will again be playing at an elite level, as he repeatedly made big plays through minicamp.
Meyers will be more familiar with Coen and the Jaguars, Hunter will be entering his sophomore season at full health, and Washington will have had another year of development after his breakout season last year.
Jacksonville's receiving corps is already seen as one of the best in the league heading into 2026, even with the drop issue from last season. If the Jaguars can improve this one issue, there's no telling how dangerous the offense could be.
