Angels Land Huge Package in Deadline Reliever Trade

The Los Angeles Angels traded right-handed reliever Ryan Zeferjahn to the Chicago Cubs Monday, acquiring catcher and designated hitter Moises Ballesteros and right-hander Mason McGwire.

Zeferjahn broke into the Angels' bullpen last season, posting a 4.74 ERA through 62 games in 2025. He took a huge step forward this season, and had been extremely reliable for the Halos prior to the trade. The right-hander made 45 appearances, recording four save in six attempts while posting a 3.66 ERA—also striking out 75 batters in 51.2 innings pitched.
