The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Here is tight end Trey McBride.

Trey McBride background, 2025 season

McBride is entering his fifth NFL season and his fifth with the Cardinals. He was drafted in the second round in 2022 and has become one of the elite tight ends in the NFL.

He has set the franchise single-season record for receptions by a tight end three straight years and, last year, set the single-season record for the team in receptions, regardless of position, and the single-season record for receiving yards in a season by a tight end. He was second in the NFL with 126 catches for 1,239 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He was a Pro Bowler for a second consecutive season and a first-time first-team All-Pro.

Trey McBride contract details, salary cap hit

McBride signed a four-year extension worth $76 million last offseason. In 2026, he was paid a $7.5 million option bonus in March and will make almost $3.01 million in salary. His cap hit will be $8.7 million.

Roster outlook, questions he faces

There is no question about his spot on the roster and in the starting lineup. He is their top pass catcher and will continue to be basically an every-down player.

The question is how productive can he be? Has he hit his ceiling, or can he catch even more passes than last season?

With other players getting more opportunities and perhaps less garbage time, he might not be targeted as much, but there is no reason why a 90-catch, 1,000-yard season would be disappointing. That is what he should be able to do.
