Gabriel Bontempo’s future may lie far from Vila Belmiro. One of the top talents to emerge from Santos in recent years, the midfielder has caught the eye of Bayern Munich, which is preparing a bid to sign him during this transfer window.

RTI Esporte has learned that the German club has made an initial offer of 32 million euros (R$ 186.9 million at the current exchange rate), but the amount is still far below Santos’ asking price. The club’s board has set a minimum of 49 million euros (R$ 286 million) to even begin negotiations.

Despite the difference in the figures, Santos’ financial situation could influence the outcome of the deal. The need to bolster its cash reserves to meet financial obligations means the sale is being treated as a real possibility.

This is the first somewhat major rumor revolving around Bontempo and Bayern Munich, so it is difficult to ascertain just how serious it is. However, with there potentially being one central midfield spot open, maybe the Bavarians are looking for a reinforcement.

There was a recent report indicating that Bayern Munich was content to proceed with Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Tom Bischof as the three primary midfielders, with David Santos Daiber as a youth option and Konrad Laimer and Nathaniel Brown as options on the roster.
