BC Tauragė signs former Iowa State guard Donovan Jackson

TAURAGĖ, Lithuania — BC Tauragė has signed former Iowa State guard Donovan Jackson for its first season in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL), the club announced on Sunday. Jackson played two seasons at Iowa State.

Jackson is the first player from the United States to join the roster for the club’s debut in the LKL. Team officials stated in their press release they expect Jackson to provide ball control and perimeter shooting for the upcoming season.

During his senior season at Iowa State (2017-18), Jackson started 30 games and averaged 15.0 points, 2.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game. He recorded 95 three-pointers that year, the fifth-most in a single season in school history, and shot 40.1% from beyond the arc. In his junior season, he made a game-clinching 3-pointer in overtime to end the University of Kansas’ 51-game home winning streak.

Jackson began his professional career in the Czech Republic during the 2018-19 season. He has since played in Greece, Poland, Estonia and Mexico, appearing in competitions such as the FIBA Europe Cup, VTB League, and FIBA Champions League qualifiers.

In the 2020-21 season, Jackson played for Polski Cukier Toruń in Poland, where he averaged 18.3 points and 4.3 assists while shooting 41.1% on three-pointers. Most recently, he appeared in five games for Kolossos Rhodes in the Greek top league, averaging 7.8 points. He scored 30 points in his final game of that season against Aris.
