Brewers' Misiorowski Makes Franchise History Again

Once again, Jacob Misiorowski has set Milwaukee Brewers' franchise history.

The Colorado Rockies had no idea what hit them as Misiorowski unloaded with seven straight strikeouts to start the game on Sunday, July 26.

Misiorowski was later pulled after five innings, having only allowed one hit. Sure, that may have been a solo homer, and he ended up hitting the next batter after, but the team's newest ace looked tremendous on a start he wasn't originally scheduled to make.

Manager Pat Murphy once again had Misiorowski on a pitch count, but this time he had a much longer leash. Miz would've loved to come back out for the sixth inning, but his 30 pitch fifth derailed things. All things considered though, it was another tremendous performance from arguably the Cy Young frontrunner.

Misiorowski strikes out seven straight to begin the game

Last September, Quinn Priester struck out six straight Los Angeles Angels batters to set a new franchise record. Less than a year later, Misirowoski was able to top it.

In the end, Misiorowski ended up striking out 12 batters. To no surprise, the flamethrower didn't allow a single walk.

Sure, giving up a homer hurts, and it's a bit concerning that he's now given up one in four of his last five starts. In that stretch, he's given up six total as he allowed a pair in his starts on July 2 and July 7.

Regardless, it's his ninth double-digit strikeout game of the year. Remember, Misiorowski's season began with an 11-strikeout performance, and he's reached as many as 15 in a single game this season. Those 15 came in his complete game shutout of the Philadelphia Phillies just over a month ago.

League leading strikeout total continues to grow

Having come into this game with 173 strikeouts, Misirowoski managed to add 12 more to that total. He sits at 185 strikeouts before the calendar flips to August, and he still has two full months to expand his league-leading numbers in terms of ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP.

Misiorowski's ERA took a minuscule jump to 1.58 while his WHIP drops to 0.75. Overall, these numbers are far better than anyone could've asked out of the two-time All-Star.

At just 24 years old, it's incredible to see Misiorowski consistently hitting 102-plus mph on his fastballs. This game featured one inning where all 12 pitches he threw were heaters, and the Rockies simply had no answers.

At the time of writing, the Brewers hold a 4-1 lead, one that would allow Misiorowski to record his 11th win of the season.
