The Milwaukee Brewers made sure things stuck in the family as they selected Trey Ebel with their first round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.

Trey's older brother, Brady, was selected No. 32 overall by the Brewers in 2025.

Officially, the team announced that Trey has followed in his brother's footsteps as he signed his contract with the Brewers.

Trey participated in batting practice ahead of the Brewers' second-half opener on Friday, July 17, and spent time discussing this whirlwind of events with the media.

Ebel discusses coming to American Family Field

"Today I was able to meet all the guys," he told MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. "Seeing (Brice) Turang, I worked out with him in the offseason but haven't seen him since so it was good to catch up with him. Then I took BP with (Jake) Bauers and that was amazing."

Ebel called it a "blessing" and said he's "so excited" and "can't wait to get to work."

Ebel on being in the same organization as his brother

"Just full of joy," Ebel said in regard to getting to play with his older brother. Ebel said that when the call came through, he saw tears in his Dad's eyes, and that's something he's never seen before.

Ebel continued, "We've been thinking about this for the last three years when I first joined the Brewers as a 13-year-old. To see it finally happen is amazing... It's even better that I'm with my brother in the same organization. I told him I'm coming for him!

"That's the goal," Ebel said as the brothers aspire to play in the MLB together. He added, "I know there's a long ways to go until that but that's the ultimate blessing you can have as a family. Even for me and Brady, playing on the same field, the chemistry, wherever we're playing on the infield is going to be great."

McCalvy asked Trey if the Ebels were going to play together this year, but the first-round pick said he didn't have any further information. He knows he's heading to Arizona, but there's always a chance he joins Brady in Single-A before the end of the 2026 season.

As a senior at Corona High School in 2026, Trey slashed .417/.496/.796 with nine home runs and 47 RBIs. Even more impressively, he struck out just six times in his 31 games played.
