HOUSTON – Quinn Priester's rehab journey is taking a new course.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy revealed on Saturday, May 30, that the right-hander, who's battled serious command issues as he attempts a comeback from thoracic outlet syndrome, will be making his starts in the immediate future with the team's rookie-level team in the Arizona Complex League.

"We just felt like he's not getting anywhere in Triple-A right now," said Murphy. Priester in his last start at Nashville on May 27 allowed two hits, three earned runs and three walks with one strikeout over ⅔ inning and 38 pitches.
Through six starts (three at Nashville, one at Class High A Wisconsin), Priester is 0-5 with a 21.60 ERA, WHIP of 3.60 and 10 strikeouts in 10 innings.

"He's just spinning his wheels a little bit," Murphy continued. "Can't get himself out of the first inning, trying to find himself. If we can put him in an environment where we control it, can pull him out in the first inning and it doesn't screw up the whole deal there, we can have some latitude.
"He agreed to it. He said, 'Yeah, that's better,' and we just want to make sure that he's progressing the way we want."

Priester was a revelation for the Brewers in 2025 after being acquired in an April trade with the Boston Red Sox and finished 13-3 with a 3.32 ERA and WHIP of 1.24 in 29 appearances (24 starts) and 157 ⅓ innings. Milwaukee won 19 straight games in which Priester pitched from May 30-Sept. 18.
He reported to spring training this year with what was believed to be a lingering wrist issue that was later determined to be thoracic outlet syndrome, a malady that in the most severe cases requires surgery to repair.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Quinn Priester (46) throws in the bullpen during spring training workouts Sunday, February 15, 2026, at American Family Fields of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.
Now, Priester will remain on a normal five-day schedule where he'll be pitching to 17- and 18-year-olds in the extreme Phoenix heat as he attempts to regain the feel for his pitches and improve his command.

"I think it'll be a while," said Murphy. "I think we were wishful thinking when we thought he could go to Triple-A and just get it back in a month. You're dealing with nerves and things like that, and it takes a while."
Murphy was asked how Priester was dealing with the situation.
"It's killing him," he said. "He's such a competitive kid. But he's also very, very bright, and he understands, 'This is a part of my injury, and it could be this, or I could get through it.' I think we'll know in the next month if it's trending this way, especially pitching down there."
