Brewers unveil plans for premium club, beer garden outside stadium

In what amounts to one of the biggest ballpark additions in the lifespan of American Family Field, the Milwaukee Brewers have begun construction on the Truss Club, a new two-story structure near the right-field corner that will offer exclusive experiences for fans sitting in the stadium's high-end seats behind home plate.

Built in the area just outside the ballpark along the first-base line, the club will eventually connect to the current concourses when it opens in 2027. The idea: An all-inclusive fan experience with valet, food, drink and gathering space for ticket-holders, part of what essentially counts as a reimagining of the season-ticket program for 375 seats.

The idea even affects the playing field; a new front row of seats will be added to what currently exists, slightly shaving down the space behind home plate. Ticket holders in the first six rows behind the plate (the current front five and the newly added sixth) will have new cushioned seats, in-seat delivery service and access to the Truss Club.

"All of us here at the Brewers consider it part of our mission to instill Brewers pride in the community," Brewers chief operating officer Marti Wronski said. "One of the biggest ways we do that is through stewardship of our ballpark. We're endlessly focused on ensuring that the ballpark remains first in class, not just in terms of clean and being maintained, but in terms of the fan amenities and the experiences for all the fans here at the ballpark.

"In conversations with our fans here, one message was really clear; fans have increased expectations for their gameday experience. They're looking more and more for all-inclusive opportunities and they expect that from us and the spaces where they're consuming sports."

The Brewers are also well on their way to completing a fresh playground area and mini-golf course beyond the center-field wall near the right-field corner, and they'll develop an adjacent beer garden and new structure for the 2027 season that will provide a food and gathering space for fans on their way into the stadium.

Truss Club will provide something Brewers haven't had before

Outside of the current Athletics venue, a temporary home in Sacramento until the franchise moves into its new Las Vegas domain, American Family Field represents the lone Major League Baseball stadium that doesn't offer a exclusive club area for select ticketed fans.

The new structure will take advantage of wooded outdoor views on the first-base side of the stadium, with a wealth of food offerings both gourmet and ballpark-centric. The space will include plenty of TVs, as well as desserts, alcoholic beverages, patio space (covered and uncovered), a private entrance and even a concierge, all included with the price of the ticket.

The Brewers somewhat view the new arrangement as a membership, with the included seats sold entirely as part of half-season and full-season ticket packages, just as the seats are now in that part of the ballpark.

The price for each seat will more than double, given the upgraded package, and the Brewers will first offer the plans to existing season-ticket-holders in the same seats before approaching other season-ticket-holders. Prices will begin at $245 per seat for the sixth row and go up based on proximity to the field.

For reference, a field diamond platinum season-ticket (full-season only) went for roughly $110 per game in six sections behind home plate in 2026, with the cost up to $195 per seat for row 1.

What is a truss? Name plays into stadium's defining feature

The club's moniker, Truss Club, reflects the term describing a roof's structural framework. The Brewers view this as an opportunity to highlight the ballpark element that sets it apart from most other stadiums: The retractable roof. The brick exterior will even bear a similar green color as American Family Field's steel roof.

"We really started to lean into those trusses," Wronski said. "It's not just an aesthetic thing, and functional, the trusses are the parts of the roof that are the strongest and hold it all up. That's really where the strength in the architecture comes from. It became something we really leaned into."

The cost of the construction will be shared by the Brewers and the stadium district, the state-created agency that serves as the main owner of the ballpark leased to the Brewers.

Part of the lease includes a stipulation that any feature already present in 75% of Major League ballparks will rise above the "discretionary" category, meaning district money can be used on the upgrade.

Area outside center field also getting reimagined

The new kids area outside the center-field portion of the ballpark will still open in 2026, but that's not where construction will stop. A beer garden and new structure designed to extend the tailgating experience closer to the stadium are in the works for 2027 launch.

"That sense of community is something [the fans] love so much pregame," Wronski said. "Everyone talks about it. And at this ballpark, one of the ways that manifests is of course in tailgating … but increasingly, for our younger and newer generations of fans, it's a lot of work. They don't love to pack a grill and do all the things. In some ways, the concept behind this is bringing tailgating to them and creating that sense of community.

"There's all this energy in the parking lots and you come over the pedestrian bridge [outside center field near the right-field corner] … it's a lot of cement. Usually, a ton of people, but this is another way to just kind of keep that energy going."

The new space will include a stage, offering an opportunity for live music, plus a bar with an upper deck and beer-garden cuisine like pretzels, hot dogs and popcorn. Like the Truss Club, it'll be an area that can be rented on non-gamedays.
