Bryan Kalbrosky: Around 2023, before I started noticing that something in my body was feeling off, it did feel like I was approaching perfection in Brooklyn. I was making a living writing about sports, a dream that still felt slightly strange to say out loud. I cherished relationships both personal and romantic. I was living comfortably before my body had other ideas. When I was actually discharged from the hospital in 2024, the after-visit summary said that I was there for a kidney biopsy. I certainly didn’t know then that it was just the beginning of what would soon become far more intense than I ever could have imagined.
