Buchanan plans to apply for a fifth season

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Ahead of the start of her senior year, University of Southern Indiana women's basketball starter Amiyah Buchanan announced she plans to return for a fifth season next year.

The NCAA previously approved a change that would allow athletes to compete five full season in five years. However, who this ruling applies to isn't exactly clear yet. The last time an extra year of eligibility was given out to all student athlete was during the Covid lock out season. Prior to that, fifth years were mainly given to players who redshirted a season or spent a year injured and was able to get a medical redshirt. Nowadays most rulings are made case by case.
