The Ohio State Buckeyes are best known for producing some of the greatest pass rushers in both college football and NFL history.

Year after year, some guys wear the Scarlet and Gray, get drafted, and make an immediate impact at the next level. That long lineage might just continue to grow as the Buckeyes received incredible news for one of the best EDGE rushers in the class of 2028.

EDGE rusher George Parkinson IV announced his final six schools, and the Buckeyes are still in the mix.

Parkinson is from Douglassville, Pennsylvania, where he has just begun terrorizing quarterbacks in far eastern Pennsylvania.

Parkinson has elite traits as he stands at 6'4", weighing in already at 240 pounds with plenty of room to grow.

He is labeled as a four-star recruit and is the No. 2 player in the state of Pennsylvania, the No. 11 edge rusher, and the No. 99 player available in the class. The Buckeyes are a part of some pretty elite company of teams that are going after Parkinson's services. They are in a battle with Penn State, Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon, and Tennessee.

The lean right now, according to 247 Sports and On3 is that Penn State has the early edge in the race, but these things change by the minute on the recruiting trail.

Parkinson would be yet another addition to what has been an impressive and intentional upgrade at the defensive line position. In the 2027 class, Ohio State has the No. 1 player in the country, DJ Jacobs, who will likely have a head start on Parkinson at the EDGE competition.

Also in the 2027 class are four-star DL Markus Fakato, 4 star edge rushers Wyatt Smith and Prince Goldsby. The Buckeyes know the importance of a great pass rusher, and they are trying to get their hands on all of the great ones, especially the ones coming out of High School.

If there is one area that the Buckeyes are in danger of taking a step back in 2026, it is the front four. It's not that they can't get the job done; it is, though, that there are a bunch of question marks at all positions across the board.

That will no longer be the case as the Buckeyes have made it a priority to address the group in their recruiting efforts. The 2027 class is already wrapped up, and now, the Buckeyes move on to the 2028 class with George Parkinson IV being their first target.
