The St. Louis Cardinals have added at least one more player after the conclusion of the 2026 MLB Draft.

John Lemm, a catcher who played at Alabama, wasn't drafted. But the Cardinals have signed him.

As of mid-day Monday, Lemm was the Cardinals' only reported undrafted signing, but he's got the potential to be a good one.

Lemm has traveled a long journey to this point. He is originally from Australia -- specifically Brisbane, Queensland.

He went to high school in Australia before coming to the United States to play baseball at South Suburban Community College in Illinois.

Lemm was a quality hitter there, and he parlayed that into a season at Southern Illinois University, where he hit .272 with 19 home runs in 55 games.

Alabama liked what it saw from the powerful 6-foot-3 lefty, and so the Crimson Tide brought Lemm aboard for the 2026 season.

Lemm finished with a .253 average and 10 home runs, including in the final game he played this season.

The definite downside to Lemm is the fact that he struck out 55 times in 194 at bats.

But if the Cardinals can find a way to get his bat on the ball, Lemm could end up being an undiscovered gem for them.
