Before we know it, football will be back in our lives as NFL training camps open up over the next two weeks. As camps begin to open, preparation for the upcoming season officially begins.

It's a great time for fans to get a look at their teams but also who they could draft for their own fantasy football teams. As we get set for camps to open, fantasy football previews are officially coming out and a few Carolina Panthers players could be breakout candidates.

That includes wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

After a big rookie season in 2025, McMilland earned the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He proved he could be a go-to target in the Panthers' offense. That's the goal again in 2026 but taking a step forward will be key as well.

Ahead of training camp beginning, McMillan is being named a potential second-year breakout candidate. Gray Deyo of Sports Illustrated fantasy football wrote on McMillan being a breakout wide receiver:

Tetairoa McMillan could be the best WR the Carolina Panthers offense has seen since the day Steve Smith Jr. trotted out onto the field. Last season, he recorded 70 receptions for 1,014 receiving yards and logged seven TDs. The following stats led him to finish as WR16 in fantasy football. The rookie season for McMillan feels to be the floor of an amazing career to come.

One factor that could lead to McMillan having an even greater season in 2026is the improving play of his starting QB, Bryce Young. In 2025, Young threw for 3,011 yards and 22 TDs–both career highs. His comfort level in dropping back and passing was notable compared to his prior two seasons. In 2025, he had two games with over 300 passing yards. In his other two seasons combined, he had one.

Also featured on the list were Chicago's Luther Burden and Tampa Bay's Emeka Egbuka.

While McMillan likely won't be a first or second round pick in many drafts, he's an intriguing player to take a flier on after that. His success, however, could be determined by how good Bryce Young will play.

Young put together a solid season a year ago but the consistency just hasn't been there in his career. Can that change?
