Cartoonist Bill Dyer captured Vols football games via clever Dyergrams

Knoxville News Sentinel cartoonist Bill Dyer was determined to get into the press box at what was then Shields-Watkins Field. His strategy to watch the Vols in real time quickly became a cornerstone of football time in Tennessee.

Dyer started at the News Sentinel in 1935, and published the very first Dyergram that same year.
