Charlotte Bobcats jersey history No. 2 Melvin Ely 2004-2007

In July of 2004, the Charlotte Bobcats acquired two players from the Los Angeles Clippers, those being Melvin Ely and Eddie House. Ely, a 6'10" center, played two and a half seasons with the Bobcats following the deal. A former No. 12 overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft out of Fresno State, Ely averaged 7.5 points, four rebounds, one assist, 0.4 steals and 0.7 blocks in 160 games with the Bobcats.

Ely was later traded ahead of the 2007 trade deadline to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Eric Williams, a second-round pick and cash considerations. All in all, Ely played 375 games in the NBA over nine seasons and averaged 5.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.6 blocks throughout his career. Ely's biggest achievement would be his lone NBA title, which he won with San Antonio in 2007 following the aforementioned trade.
