The Washington Nationals will officially have two All Star selections in 2026.

Both outfielder James Wood and shortstop CJ Abrams were named selections on the National League All Star team, it was officially announced on Saturday night.

This marks the second All Star selection for both players after Abrams drew the honor in 2024, followed by Wood in 2025.

Abrams also becomes the first National to start in the All Star game since Bryce Harper in 2018, while James Wood becomes the first back-to-back selection for the organization since Juan Soto in 2021-22.

Abrams was named a starter alongside Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies, Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy, Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh, Mets outfielder Juan Soto, Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages and Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani.

In 86 appearances this season, Abrams ranks seventh in all of baseball with 60 RBIs, 22nd with 18 home runs and 23rd with 14 stolen bases while also hitting .270 with an .851 OPS. Abrams also also recorded hits in all three of his last games prior to Saturday, though he put together a strong month of April after hitting .308 and recording eight home runs and 23 RBIs.

Abrams is one of eight players across baseball to record at least 15 home runs and ten stolen bases, a feat that helped him capitalize on his preseason dream of making it back to the mid-summer classic.

Wood, meanwhile, was a surprising omission from the starters despite sticking among the best outfielders in all of baseball to open the 2026 regular season. Wood leads all players with 77 runs scored, 16 more than any other player, while ranked tied for fourth with 22 doubles, sixth with a .931 OPS, seventh with 23 home runs, ninth with a .538 slugging, tenth with a .393 OBP, 15th with 93 hits and 16th with 56 RBIs. He also owns 125 strikeouts this year, four fewer than Kyle Schwarber's league-leading 129 so far in 2026, to add to an impressive campaign.

The star right fielder also recorded three consecutive multi-hit games ahead of Saturday's loss, going 7-for-14 at the plate with five RBIs during that span. Over his last five games prior to Saturday, Wood is 9-for-21 with two home runs, six RBIs, two doubles, one triple and six runs scored.

Wood is also the only National League player and one of two across baseball to record at least 20 home runs and ten stolen bases this season.

The Nationals will also be represented in the Futures All Star Game with a pair of selections, while the 96th MLB All Star game, sponsored by Mastercard, is set to begin at 8 PM ET on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
