The Cleveland Browns selected Nathaniel Watson as their No. 206 pick in the sixth round in 2024. He failed to secure a spot on the active roster and the team subsequently waived him. However, the Browns gave him another shot by signing him to the practice squad.

Meanwhile, Rex Sunahara emerged as an undrafted prospect in 2020 but has since found a home with the franchise in the past two seasons.

They are both expected to play limited but important roles next season. The long snapper recorded seven combined tackles in 2025, while the linebacker appeared in 14 games, including one start, registering 14 combined tackles.

Watson has returned to 100% after missing the entire 2025 season. His 6-foot, 233-pound frame and strong base will be crucial in giving Shedeur Sanders or other Cleveland quarterbacks more time to find the perfect target.

Watson proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Daniela Torres, on May 20. Sunahara announced his engagement to Cassidy Kolkczun on June 1. Cleveland posted their engagement photos on Instagram on Sunday and congratulated them.

“offseason = engagement season 💍⁣ Congrats Bookie and Rex!” the Browns wrote.

Their relationship milestones will likely motivate them to play better next season. Cleveland is coming off a disappointing season, finishing with a 5-12 record. Its quarterback room has the biggest question mark entering 2026 as it’s crowded. Deshaun Watson returns from a ruptured Achilles, with Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green all expected to compete for the QB1 job.

The franchise also traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams on June 1. It received Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick in return. The move signaled the Browns’ prioritization of youth movement as they prepare for the future. While losing the star pass rusher may sting, the haul they received will help speed up their rebuilding process.
