Welcome to Week 5 of the Gainesville-area FHSAA Florida high school football season.

We mentioned that Week 4 could offer a chance of rebirth for winless teams as district play began.

That occurred as the Gainesville High and Eastside picked up their first wins of 2026. EHS won its first road game in 11 months and held off an improved Belleview squad 13-9 with a late touchdown.
