The Brewster Whitecaps kept pace with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the race for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s East Division with a third straight win.

Jacob Lee (Virginia Commonwealth) went 3-for-5 and contributed six RBIs on two singles, one double and a throwing error as Brewster (18-7-2) beat the Hyannis Harbor Hawks 10-6 on Thursday.

Brewster scored seven runs across a four-inning stretch to flip the script and build a 7-2 lead. Hyannis (12-15) tried to stage a late comeback with three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning but could not get closer than four runs.

Gaines Estridge (United States Air Force Academy) made a strong start on the mound as he lasted five innings to improve to 2-0. He gave up just three hits, two runs (one earned run) and one walk.

Jax Gimenez (Oregon) tallied two RBIs on a 1-for-5 day at the plate, while Andrew Lamb (Southern California) hit a solo home run on his only hit.

In other Cape Cod Baseball League action:

Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox 8, Orleans Firebirds 5 (8 inn.)

Yarmouth-Dennis (21-5-1) put up five runs in the fifth inning to build a 6-1 lead and then squashed a late comeback bid in a win over Orleans (8-19).

Armando Briseno (Cal State Fullerton) sparked the offensive effort before Jake Souders (Samford), who drove in three runs with one crack of the bat, and Tommy Goodin (Vanderbilt) hit back-to-back doubles.

Briseno finished 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run, while Souders (three RBIs, one run) and Goodin (one RBI) both went 2-for-4. Lucas Franco (Texas Christian) was 3-for-5 atop the order and scored three times. Phoenix Call was 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Yarmouth-Dennis collected eight hits and drew two walks, and went 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Brock Ketelsen (Stanford) started on the bump for Yarmouth-Dennis and pitched four one-hit and scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Tag Andrews (Arkansas Little Rock) picked up the win in relief and Cameron Teper (California Baptist) made the save.

Orleans tried to rally behind runs in back-to-back innings that pulled it within 8-5 on singles from Bub Terrell (Auburn), who was 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run, and Ryan MacDougall (Dayton), but the gap closed no further.

Tyler Myatt (Tennessee) and Casey Cumiskey (Southern New Hampshire) each went 2-for-4 with one run. Myatt added one RBI.

Harwich Mariners 5, Falmouth Commodores 2

Niko Brini (Wofford) powered Harwich (17-10) to a second straight win as he went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, including a two-RBI triple that gave his team a 4-2 lead, and one run scored.

Jackson Peavy (Georgia) pitched four solid innings, giving up just two runs (both earned) on three hits and three walks. He struck out three. TJ Ziiermann (unattached) picked up the win in relief after he pitched five scoreless innings with four strikeouts against two hits and one walk.

Fabio Peralta (Miami) and Riley Jackson (Houston) each drove in runs on singles to tie the game at 2-2 for Falmouth (10-15-2) in the fourth inning before Harwich pulled away with three runs in the fifth inning.

Cotuit Kettleers 8, Wareham Gatemen 4

Cotuit (10-15-2) strengthened its position on the final West Division playoff spot with a win over chasing Wareham (9-18).

Dawson Park (Texas State) scored three times as he went 3-for-4 with two walks. Isaac Sturgess (Michigan State) drove in a pair of runs on his only hit. Cotuit scored twice on wild pitches.

Jacob Burnham (Boston College) was nearly unhittable across five innings. He allowed just two hits, one walk and one run to pick up his first win.

Louisiana-Lafayette’s Connor Cuff (3-for-5, one double, two runs) and Miami’s Dylan Dubovik (1-for-4, one double, three RBIs) paced the Wareham offense.

Chatham Anglers 4. Bourne Braves 3

Naulivou Lauaki Jr. (Oregon), who was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and one run, hit a walk-off solo home run to give Chatham (11-14-2) a win over West Division leading Bourne (13-11-3).

Bourne had taken an early 2-0 lead in the second inning when Josiah Overbeek (United States Military Academy/Mississippi State) singled on a line drive before Rustan Rigdon (Vanderbilt) drew a bases loaded walk.

Chatham responded with three straight runs to take a 3-2 lead. It defended that lead from the fourth inning until the eighth inning when Burke-Lee Mabeus (Oregon) tied the game on a ground-rule double.

Mabeus finished the game 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. He was just one of two players—one for each team—to record a multi-hit game.

Chatham’s Terry Hayes Jr. (Mississippi), Justice de Jong (Auburn) and Collins Black (North Carolina State) combined to allow just three runs on six hits and four walks. The trio struck out nine.
