The Seattle Seahawks underwent significant changes at running back this offseason. They selected rookie Jadarian Price at No. 32 overall in the 2026 NFL draft to help replace Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker III, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks also signed veteran back Emanuel Wilson in free agency.

John Schneider gave Wilson a one-year contract worth $1.6 million. Wilson's contract contains just $300,000 in guarantees, according to Over the Cap. That opens up the possibility that he could be released before Week 1 even starts.

Wilson's roster spot could depend on Zach Charbonnet's recovery. Price and George Holani are going to be the Seahawks' top two running backs against the New England Patriots in Week 1. If Charbonnet begins the campaign on PUP as a result of his season-ending torn ACL injury suffered during the playoffs, then the Seahawks will need a third running back on the 53-man roster until he's recovered.

Wilson's placement on the 53-man roster could depend on Charbonnet's readiness. It's possible the Seahawks prefer to carry four running backs anyway, but it certainly feels like Wilson is competing for the 53-man roster. We'll see how quickly Charbonnet can get back on the field.
