A Czech army "Venom" helicopter carrying five troops crashed on Wednesday, the country's military said on X.

"A Venom ​helicopter crashed at the 22nd Helicopter Air Force Base in ⁠Namest ​nad Oslavou," ​the army said. "There were five soldiers ​on board. The ‌integrated emergency system is responding at the scene."

The regional rescue service reported that one person died in the crash, while three others were injured and transported to the hospital.

The crash occurred at the Air Force base Namest nad Oslavou, 180 kilometers (112 miles) ‌southeast of Prague.

The Czech Army has not yet released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The UH-1Y Venom, produced by Bell Textron, is a multipurpose helicopter. It is powered by two T700-GE-401C engines produced by General Electric.
