Detroit Brings Back Veteran Shooter Kevin Huerter

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, free agent guard Kevin Huerter intends to sign a three-year, $27 million contract to return to Detroit. The deal was negotiated by agents Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman of Priority Sports.

Pistons Keep One of Their Top Shooters
Retaining Huerter was a priority for Detroit after his contributions during the 2025-26 season.
The veteran wing appeared in 69 games, averaging 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. Although he connected on 30.8 percent of his three point attempts last season, Huerter owns a career 36.8 percent mark from beyond the arc and has long been regarded as one of the league’s better perimeter shooters.

Detroit Continues Aggressive Offseason
The Huerter agreement comes during what has been an extremely active offseason for the Pistons.
Detroit has already added Isaiah Joe to bolster its perimeter shooting, drafted Stanford standout Ebuka Okorie after trading up in the first round, and has remained linked to several other high profile players as President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon continues reshaping the roster.
Keeping Huerter in Detroit ensures the Pistons maintain another experienced shooter while continuing to improve the team’s offensive firepower.
The Pistons have made it clear that surrounding Cade Cunningham with shooting remains a top priority.
