Devastated German national team players hit social media
After the frustration and anger over another World Cup exit, the German national team players are now absorbing the pain and disappointment. As such, several of the players hit social media to directly connect to fans.
Below are some of the social media messages from players to fans:
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe World Cup is over for us and it’s difficult to find the right words right now. We came here with big dreams, gave everything as a team, and still it wasn’t enough in the end.Thank you to all the fans for your support. Those who travelled with us and everyone watching from home. We felt it every step of the way.I’m proud to represent this country and this team. We’ll need some time to process this, but we’ll come back.Thank you. 🇩🇪
Honestly… The fact that my first World Cup is ending like this hits me hard.
We have not lived up to our demands and expectations. Now we have to honestly analyze why it didn’t work.
I wanted to take responsibility and I took responsibility. But at the same time, that means having to live with the consequences – even if it hurts.
Thank you for your many uplifting words. This means a lot to me! Together we will rise again! ❤️
My first World Cup was a special experience for me—unfortunately, in both good and bad ways. It’s a tremendous honor to represent Germany at a tournament like this. That makes it all the more painful that we let so many of you down. We can only apologize for that.
I’ll continue to do everything I can to do my part to make Germany proud again. Thank you to everyone who supported us anyway and will continue to support us.
A disappointing end to our World Cup. As a team we’re extremely sorry for disappointing the country, in what was a positive start, ending so soon.
Thank you as always to everyone back home for the support you showed us 🇩🇪
Our early exit from the World Cup is extremely sobering. We clearly fell short of expectations and should have gone further in this tournament. This ending really hurts.
I made a very conscious decision to play for Germany one more time. On the one hand, because wearing the national team jersey has always filled me with deep pride. Second, because at 40 years old and with the experience of four World Cup tournaments under my belt, I wanted to support the young players as best I could—both on and off the field—and help German soccer. Despite the bitter end, I don’t regret this decision for a second.
My disappointment is indescribable, yet I remain deeply grateful. Thank you for your support over the years and during this tournament.
“We have let Germany down. That hurts. There’s nothing more to say right now. Thank you for this opportunity 🇩🇪”
