Ethiopia and Eritrea appeal to UN over growing conflict
Ethiopia and Eritrea have both appealed to the UN Security Council to intervene because of escalating tensions between the two countries. Ethiopia has accused Eritrea of a "blatant act of aggression", claiming its neighbour deployed troops 60 kilometres inside Ethiopian territory. Eritrea has rejected the accusation and, in a letter to the UN on Saturday, called on the Security Council to condemn what it described as Ethiopia’s "deplorable declaration of war".
