Everton admire Strasbourg defender Guela Doue
Everton admire Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue, according to the Daily Mail.
Manager David Moyes deployed centre-back Jake O'Brien at right-back last season, but the club could use a specialist.
Signing a new right-back is one of the club's priorities heading into the summer transfer window, and Everton have been linked with several players.
Doue had another phenomenal campaign in Ligue 1, helping his team keep five clean sheets and winning almost two-thirds of his aerial duels last season.
He is a natural leader who holds his own in one-on-one situations, coming out on top in 48 percent of his ground duels.
Doue is comfortable as a traditional right-back in a back four or as a wing-back in a back three – versatility that will appeal to the Toffees.
He would give Everton more attacking threat from the right flank, although they are not alone in the race to sign him.
Newcastle United have also shown interest in securing his services after missing out on Marco Palestra.
While Everton are interested in Doue, Moyes may prefer a right-back with more Premier League experience.
If Everton are serious about upgrading the right side of their defence, passing on Doue would be a mistake.
The 23-year-old combines physicality, defensive reliability and attacking intent in a way that is difficult to find on the market.
He still has room to develop, which means Everton would be investing in the present and the future.
While Premier League experience is often viewed as a safety net, Doue has shown he possesses quality in abundance.
Players with his profile rarely come cheap once they establish themselves at a higher level.
Moyes has an opportunity to secure a potential star before his value climbs even further.
