The Stanley Cup has a long and storied history. Over 125-plus years of hockey excellence have come and gone and it still remains one of the coolest trophies in all of sports.

It's also extremely difficult to win. Unlike in the early years, the NHL now has 32 teams vying for contention every season in the modern era. With limitations like the salary cap and player contracts in the mix as well, it's no wonder it's a hard mountain to climb.

Since the turn of the 2000s, we've seen some incredible Cinderella runs to the Stanley Cup Final alongside the birth of long-lasting and iconic hockey dynasties.
