Thirteen people were arrested in the Dutch city of The Hague during isolated clashes between fans and police after Morocco ousted the Netherlands at the World Cup in a dramatic 3-2 win on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Police officers were pelted with stones and pyrotechnics by several celebrating Moroccan fans, prompting them to arrest 13 people, police said on Tuesday.

Officers also deployed water cannon to disperse fans blocking roads, it said.

Hundreds of Morocco fans spontaneously took to the streets in several Dutch city following their team's surprise victory.

In Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague, cars drove through the streets with their horns blaring, and fans cheered and celebrated wildly.
