A Russian drone strike killed at least five people on a public bus in southern Ukraine, with at least seven other passengers injured in the attack in the Nikopol region, officials said on Wednesday.

The governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Hanzha, said on Telegram that "the seven injured are currently receiving medical care. They are getting all the necessary help."

He accused Russia of terrorism and published a photo of the damaged bus showing bloodstains.

Kiev also reported it had sustained fresh Russian attacks. Warehouses were on fire, and one person had been injured, authorities said.

In the Mykolaiv region, Ukraine's state railway company reported that a drone had struck a passenger train on the Kiev-Mykolaiv route. All passengers were said to have reached safety in time and no injuries were reported. The train caught fire.

Russia has recently stepped up its attacks on trains and railway infrastructure. Ukraine says hundreds of locomotives have been damaged or destroyed.

Ukraine's air defence said that Russia launched a total of 80 aerial objects overnight, of which more than 60 were neutralized.
