The date and opponent for the Philadelphia Flyers is set.

Starting the 2026-27 season, the Keystone State rivalry will pick up where it left off in the postseason. The NHL has announced that the Flyers will begin the season at home, hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins on September 30th at 7:30 PM ET.

Over the past few seasons, the Flyers have began their season on the road. This year, it starts at home.

After eliminating the Penguins in 6 games during the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this past season, they will get to pick right back up with the team they last beat.

Of course, the Flyers were swept by the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes in their Round 2 series.

The Keystone State Rivalry saw a revival during the 2025-26 season, extending into the postseason. Now, the 2026-27 season could start with some fireworks.

Noel Acciari, who was on the other side of the rivalry last season, will be donning the Orange and Black this time around.

September 30th will be Day 2 of regular season games. The Flyers-Penguins matchup will be part of the first TNT double-header of the year.

The rest of the schedule is set to be released on Thursday, July 16th at 1:00 PM ET.

2026-27 will be extended to 84 regular season games, which is why the season begins in late September.
