Former Washington Huskies star Hannes Steinbach put together his best performance of the NBA Summer League on Wednesday.

Although his Charlotte Hornets lost 110-91 to the Milwaukee Bucks, the No. 14 overall pick in June's draft showed exactly why general manager Jeff Peterson invested a lottery pick in him, with a 27-point, 15-rebound double-double, both of which were game-highs.

After coming off the bench in each of his first three games, the 6-foot-11 product of Würzburg, Germany, made his first start on Wednesday, and the offense ran through him. Steinbach was an efficient 13-for-22 from the field, while he added 3 assists and a steal, went 1-for-2 at the free throw line, and committed 3 turnovers across 27 minutes of action.

“Just always try and get the ball and create some extra possessions," Steinbach said after the game. "I think with a few guys out, I tried to take more responsibility with the ball in my hands, was more aggressive, and scored more. (The NBA) is a lot tougher than college, a lot faster and more physical, but I think I’m getting used to it and doing pretty well."

With his time in Las Vegas beginning to wind down, Steinbach's most recent performance is a great sign of his development, and Charlotte's plans to insert him into the rotation quickly once the 2026-27 NBA season gets underway.

Former Washington star Terrell Brown Jr. also saw plenty of action, recording 6 points, 2 assists, and a rebound across 16 minutes. The Hornets will return to the floor on Friday, July 17, to take on the Sacramento Kings at 3:30 p.m. PT.
