Florida State has made a splash in the 2027 recruiting cycle. After taking an official visit to Tallahassee this weekend, four-star safety Jernard Albright has flipped his commitment from the South Carolina Gamecocks to FSU, per Warchant.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder had been committed to the Gamecocks since Christmas Day. However, he is now the eighth commitment for the Seminoles in their 2027 class, and he's also their highest-ranked pledge.

Albright is the nation's No. 176 overall player and the No. 12 safety per Rivals' industry rankings. In the state of Georgia, he's the No. 5 prospect.

As a junior at Effingham County High School, Albright was a productive performer. He finished with 50 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass breakups.

After losing four-star safety Mekhi Williams to the Wisconsin Badgers this week, getting Albright to flip was a huge win for Florida State as he is a slightly higher ranked recruit. He joins three-star Jemari Foreman at the safety spot, and he's the third blue-chip commitment along with four-star linebacker Gregory Batson and four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro.
