Ghost towns reveal devastation along Sudan's recaptured Exports Road

Sudan's army is working to consolidate control of the strategic al-Sadirat, or Exports Road, linking Khartoum with el-Obeid and the wider Kordofan and Darfur regions. The route was controlled by the Rapid Support Forces for much of Sudan's three-year conflict before the army recaptured it last month, along with several towns and cities. Burnt vehicles, abandoned buildings and deserted communities along the highway reveal the scale of the fighting.
