The San Francisco Giants made a series of roster moves Friday, highlighted by catcher Logan Porter remaining in the organization after clearing waivers and being assigned outright to Triple-A Sacramento.

Porter had been designated for assignment earlier in the week, leaving his future with the organization uncertain. After going unclaimed, he will now provide additional depth at the catching position in Sacramento.

The Giants also recalled right-handed pitcher Carson Seymour from Triple-A while optioning right-hander Wilkin Ramos to the minors.

Although Porter has seen only limited major league action, he has served as a reliable organizational catcher. The 30-year-old appeared in one game for San Francisco this season and made a handful of appearances with the club in 2025. He also spent time in the majors with the Kansas City Royals during the 2024 campaign.

His offensive production at the big-league level has been modest, but his body of work in Triple-A paints a more complete picture.

While he is not known for producing significant power, his approach at the plate has helped him remain a valuable depth option.

Defensively, Porter continues to bring value behind the plate. He has developed a reputation as a dependable receiver and has shown improvement in controlling the running game in recent seasons.

Keeping Porter in the organization provides San Francisco with experienced depth at a demanding position. Catching depth can become a critical asset over the course of a long season, particularly when injuries arise or roster flexibility is needed.

Porter's situation remains worth monitoring, however. Because he has previously been outrighted in his career, he has the right to reject the assignment and elect free agency.

A similar scenario unfolded last season when he briefly entered the open market before ultimately returning to the Giants on a new minor league agreement.

For now, the veteran backstop remains part of the organization's depth chart and will continue his season with Triple-A Sacramento while the Giants evaluate their catching options moving forward.
