Gophers, NDSU neck and neck in race to be ranked

Back-to-back wins over Washington and Michigan weren't enough to convince voters that the Gophers belong in the new college football top-25 rankings.

However, Minnesota (4-1) is close to the top 25 in both the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll. In the AP Top 25, the Gophers are seventh in the "others receiving votes" category, which essentially means they're ranked No. 32 in the country. In the AFCA Coaches Poll, they're eighth among others receiving votes, or 33rd in the nation.
