Nikola Jokic turned in another season for the ages, averaging 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.7 assists in 65 games. He shot 56% from the field and 38% from three, for an effective field goal percentage of 61%.

It was the second straight season where he averaged a triple double.

He made his eighth All-Star team and was first-team All-NBA for the third straight season. He was second in the MVP voting for the second straight season and has finished either first or second in MVP voting for six straight seasons.

He also finished sixth in Clutch Player of the Year voting.

As great as Jokic was in the regular season, he struggled in the playoffs, leading to the Denver Nuggets being upset in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jokic averaged 25.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 9.5 assists while shooting 44% from the field and 19% from three, both career playoff lows. His effective field goal percentage was 47%, the first time in his career that he was under 50%.

The Ringer released its Top 100 players, and the Denver Nuggets franchise center found himself third on the list.

He was behind reigning two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and San Antonio Spurs two-way alien Victor Wembanyama.

He was ahead of offensive dynamo Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers and Finals MVP Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks.

Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Miami Heat, Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers, Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons, and Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors rounded out the top ten.

Is Jokic Underrated?

It's clear the list puts a lot of stock in the playoff performance of Victor Wembanyama compared to his regular season.

After the regular season, very few would've placed Wemby above Jokic, even with his two-way play. But Jokic faltered in the playoffs, failing to get out of the first round despite the Nuggets being a three seed.

Wembanyama, on the other hand, averaged 23.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks with an effective field goal percentage of 53% while leading the Spurs to the NBA Finals.

Had Jokic been able to matchup against Wemby in the second round like most fans anticipated, as long as he had a strong series, he likely would've still be ahead of the Spurs center.

Putting Jokic behind SGA and Wemby isn't unfair after the seasons each man had and the struggle of Jokic in the playoffs. Any further on the list and he would've been considered underrated because he's still a top three player in the league. He's just three instead of one or two like fans have come to expect.
