Hasakah education directorate becomes sole authority as institutional integration advances
HASAKAH, Gozarto (Jazira) — The Hasakah Education Directorate has become the province’s sole education authority, while efforts to integrate administrative, security, military and service institutions into state structures have reached advanced stages, a local executive official said. Vivian Bahou Oussi, an executive office member overseeing education, higher education, culture, tourism and antiquities, told Suroyo TV that specialized committees were reviewing the files and qualifications of educational and administrative staff as part of efforts to unify institutional procedures. The review includes verifying academic certificates and harmonizing curricula and language policies across the province. Oussi also expressed satisfaction at representing Suryoye (Syriac-Aramean-Assyrian-Chaldean) women within the provincial executive office, saying she hoped the integration process would be completed and all institutions reopened to serve the province’s diverse communities. The broader integration process has nevertheless encountered practical obstacles. Temporary closures of some government departments have delayed citizens’ administrative transactions, while the unresolved cases of detainees and missing persons remain a significant test of the agreement’s implementation and its prospects for lasting stability. On the security and military fronts, the process has moved beyond negotiations toward implementation, including the handover of security sites and the deployment of government forces. Negotiations have also continued over reducing the number of personnel to be integrated and resolving their administrative status. Financial and service institutions are another focus of the process. Discussions with the finance minister have addressed the reactivation of financial directorates and institutions, alongside preparations for the 2027 budget. Joint plans also aim to accelerate the integration of infrastructure, personnel and state banking institutions. The progress reported in Hasakah marks an important stage in efforts to bring local institutions under a unified state administration. However, the pace of implementation, the resolution of outstanding cases and the restoration of public services will remain key indicators of whether the process can deliver tangible improvements for residents across the province.
